In face of major changes of the world pattern at the key point of social transformation and upgrading and securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects in China, all Chinese people have a common wish to step up realizing the great national rejuvenation.Breaking the urban-rural dual structure to promote the coordinated urban-rural development has become an urgent task of the times. For this reason, since the 18 th National Congress of the CPC,the Communist Party of China and the state have issued a series of policies and have comprehensively expanded in-depth reforms, aimed at narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas and promoting the coordinated urban-rural development.Currently, since there are imbalanced developments in urban and rural areas in China, coordinated urban-rural development becomes increasingly prominent. Therefore, the study of Mao Zedong’s Thought on the Coordinated Development of Urban and Rural Areas is of practical significance in the guidance for the current urban-rural development in China.Mao Zedong’s Thought on Coordinated Development of Urban and Rural Areas mainly comes from the discussion of Marxism-Leninism on coordinated urban-rural development, and the practice and exploration of urban and rural construction in China by Mao Zedong and other Communists during the Socialist Revolution and Construction period.Mao Zedong’s Thought on The Coordinated Development of Urban and Rural Areas is mainly reflected on the following aspects: At the industrial level,it adheres to the structural mode of “simultaneous development of industry and agriculture” and “proportion to agricultural, light industry and heavy industry”.At the regional level,it promotes the urban-rural development of mutual assistance. At the beneficial level,it attaches importance to the “interests of farmers”.At the method level,it upholds the principle of “bearing on the fundamental interests”.At the same time,it is of affinity to people, practice and overall consideration.Mao Zedong’s Thought on the Coordinated Development of Urban and Rural Areas is also of reality importance to the current coordinated urban-rural development in China, which can be reflected on the following aspects: First,it promotes the mutual benefits between industry and agriculture.Second,it accelerates the reform of urban-rural culture and education and medical and health systems in regions.Third,in terms of interests,it speeds up urbanization that protects the legitimate rights and interests of farmers.Fourth,it implements the “targeted poverty alleviation” policy and the “rural revitalization strategy” to address the weaknesses in urban-rural development.
