| Feng Zikai is a rare generalist art master in modern China.He is an outstanding cartoonist,writer,musician,calligrapher,translator and educator,and his achievements in cartoons are the most remarkable among the fields he has covered.Feng Zikai is known as "the father of Chinese comics",and his cartoons are a brilliant stroke in the history of Chinese comics.At present,there is still some controversy about the classification of Feng Zikai’s cartoons,so there is a need for further discussion and further research.Considering that Feng Zikai’s cartoon is a new artistic form based on traditional literati painting and combining the artistic characteristics and expression techniques of cartoon,his cartoons contain deep thinking and continuous literati interest,which shows the literati thoughts far beyond the contents of the picture itself and has rich literary nature.Therefore,the author defines it as "literati cartoon" and focuses on its literati connotation from the perspective of "literati cartoon".This paper first defines Feng Zikai’s caricature as "literati cartoon" based on Chen Shizeng’s theory on the definition of literati painting as presented in his article"The Value of Literati Painting ”and Feng Zikai’s definition of caricature,and then,the author takes the discussion of its literati connotation as the core and carries on the promotion from four aspects,namely,literati nature,literati interest,literati cultivation and literati realm.It can be concluded that the literati nature reflected in Feng Zikai’s literati cartoons includes both inheritance of traditional culture and reflection on modern society.Through the image analysis of feng Zikai’s cartoon works,we can see that it is full of poetic,childlike and profound literati interest.In addition,feng Zikai’s literati cartoon has the literati culture of combining poetry,calligraphy,painting and printing.Under the foundation of Chinese traditional culture,fengzikai’s literati cartoon presents the highest realm of literati:to do the career of entering the word with the attitude or spirit of birth.I hope this paper can provide a new perspective and reference experience for the study of Feng Zikai’s comics in contemporary academic circles. |
