| John Lennon(1940-1980)was the founder of the famous band The Beatles and one of the most influential figures in the history of music.Many of his songs were popular all over the world and still influence us to this day.Current academic research on John Lennon is abundant,but it is mostly focused on his artistic creation and biography,while little research has been conducted on him using psychological theories.This study analyzes John Lennon’s personality development from the perspective of psychology,trying to reveal the reasons for his sudden change in personality development around the age of thirty,while expanding and enriching the level and depth of research on the biographer,and helping readers to better understand the development of personality.The research idea of this study is: based on the psychosocial development theory,the psychobiographical method is used to organize and screen four aspects of John Lennon’s monographs,biographies,lyrics and interview transcripts,and the causal explanatory model(Causal)is used to analyze the development of John Lennon’s personality and the causes of sudden changes and explanation.The results of the study are as follows.Based on the psychosocial development theory,this study used the psychobiographical research method to organize and filter the four aspects of John Lennon’s monograph,biography,lyrics and interview transcripts,and used the causal explanatory model(Causal)to analyze and explain John Lennon’s personality development.The findings revealed that John Lennon’s personality development in childhood failed due to(1)the absence of his parents,and(2)his aunt’s strict and demanding parenting style.John Lennon’s personality development in adolescence failed because of(1)his mother’s death and(2)his involvement in vices.The reasons for John Lennon’s successful personality development in adulthood were(1)the sense of belonging brought to John by Yoko Ono,(2)the resolution of repressed emotions in childhood through primitive therapy,and(3)the pursuit of love and peace.The findings of this study are that(1)personality development is lifelong,and(2)intimate relationships are important for personality development and can even reverse failures in early stages of personality development. |
