Moral judgement occurs when individuals make analysis on the basis of one’s own value orientation by dealing with information related to specific issues.People usually make moral judgement under native language condition,as international communication enlarges, people inevitably use second language in moral judgement sometimes.Recently, the study of psychology has found that moral judgement differs when using different languages types(native language vs.foreign language),and people tend to be more utilitarian in moral judgement when using foreign language, which is called moral foreign language effect.Researchers have gradually proved that moral foreign language effect exists in different language environment since it was discovered. As for the forming mechanisms of moral foreign language effect, there are different illustrations from different perspectives.Currently, the mainstream explanatory view includes the enhancement of prudential processing, the weakening of emotional processing and the decrease of sensitivity to moral norms.Researchers bring up explanations towards the same phenomenon from different perspectives since they have not reached a consensus on the forming mechanisms of moral foreign language effect.Nevertheless, process dissociation procedure and CNI model allow researchers to separate out the parameters of prudential processing, emotional processing and sensitivity to norms in the process when individuals make moral judgement. Moreover, another research shows that the priming of prudential processing can decrease emotional prediction bias. Thus,if foreign language is able to decrease emotional prediction bias, which indirectly proves that prudential processing can be enhanced via foreign language. In this research, emotional prediction bias, the process dissociation processing and CNI model will be used to discuss the difference of the parameters of prudential processing, emotional processing and sensitivity to moral norms in moral judgement under foreign language condition. The main goal is to give an insight into moral foreign language effect and pave the way for the subsequent researches towards the forming mechanisms of moral foreign language effect. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The use of foreign language cannot decrease emotional prediction bias, but the priming of prudential processing can notably decrease emotional prediction bias. From the emotional prediction bias perspective, foreign language cannot decrease emotional prediction bias by enhancing individuals’ prudential processing.(2)When prudential processing is not primed, the use of foreign language increases the proportion of utilitarian choices made by participants, and enhances prudential processing in moral judgement, while decreasing emotional processing in moral judgement.(3)Moral foreign language effect exists since the proportion of utilitarian choices made by participants under English condition is notably larger than that under Chinese condition. The use of foreign language decreases sensitivity to moral norms in moral judgement. Therefore, according to the conclusions, the use of foreign language can lower individuals’ emotional processing and sensitivity to moral norms in moral judgement, but it cannot decrease emotional prediction bias or enhance individuals’ prudential processing in moral judgement. These findings can help people learn more about moral foreign language effect and provide basis to subsequent researches on the forming mechanisms of moral foreign language effect.
