| The source text of this translation report is an excerpt from Abrupt Climate Change:Inevitable Surprises,published in 2002.It is a text in English for Science and Technology(EST)with informativity and translatability,in which the pressure caused by climate change on the society and the environment where human beings are is discussed and the great impact of abrupt climate change on economic and ecological stocks is described.However,based on the present literature,the author finds that there is no sufficient EST text translation on meteorology in China,therefore,this translation report is intended to provide reference for the research in related fields.The report narrates the purpose and significance of this paper and concludes difficulties the translator has encountered in the process of translation,and further analyzes them by the context and the understanding of the difference between Chinese and English.There are many long and complex sentences and professional terms in the source text.In the whole translation process,the translator is required to read a diversity of parallel texts in order to deliver the information of the source text better.Besides,the appropriate expressions and translation techniques such as amplification,recasting,division and conversion are used in the targe text,and further the source text is effectively shifted into a target text conforming to reading habits of target readers.Hence,it is hoped to promote the understanding of the public on the impact of climate change,at the same time,references are provided for EST text translation. |
