This is an E-C translation report. The source text of the E-C translation report is selected from We Are What We Eat:A Slow Food Manifesto, which was published by Penguin Press on June 1st,2021.The book explores diet and health in two aspects:fast food culture and slow food culture.Fast food, with its rapid development, not only brings convenience to people’s life, but also has negative impact on health and other aspects. The translation report first analyzes the writing background and the text type of the source text, and then discusses the difficulties in translation at lexical level, syntactic level and discourse level, including proper nouns, names of food,culture-loaded words, attributive clauses, long and complex sentences, cohesion and coherence. In order to solve the translation difficulties, the translator adopted corresponding translation methods. When encountering names of food, proper nouns and culture-loaded words, the translator adopted transliteration, annotation and paraphrase translation methods; When the target language cannot fully express the implicit content of the source text, the translator adopted the translation method of amplification;English has more long and complex sentences and there are many attributive clauses in the source text.In order to make the translation smooth and readable, the translator adopted the methods of free translation, division and reconstruction; In order to improve the quality of the translation and arouse the interest of the target reader, the translator used the translation method of Chinese four-character idioms; The source text has its own internal context and the content is logical and relevant. The translator used the methods of substitution and adding conjunction words to make the translation conform to the logic of the source text. Finally, the translator summarized the translation practice, not only summarized the experience gained in the translation practice, but also reflected on the limitations and put forward suggestions.
