The English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)puts forward the concept of "activity-based approach" integrating the six elements of the curriculum,which provides an effective guarantee for the realization of the core literacy of the subject.Reading teaching is an important part of High school English teaching,and plays a key role in cultivating the core literacy of English subject.Therefore,it is very important to apply the concept of activity-based approach to reading teaching.Many experts and scholars have discussed the concept of activity-based approach from many aspects of theory and practice,but most of them focus on classroom activity design and case analysis,and there are few studies on the current teachers’ cognition and implementation.However,high school English teachers’ cognition and practice of the concept of activity-based approach directly affect its implementation.Therefore,it is particularly important to understand the practice of high school English teachers in actual teaching.Based on this,112 teachers from four high schools in Changchun were selected as the research objects,and the following three questions were answered by questionnaire survey,classroom observation and interview:1.What is the status quo of high school English teachers’ cognition of the concept of activity-based approach?2.How do high school English teachers implement the concept of activity-based approach in reading classes?3.What are the factors that influence high school English teachers’ practice of activity-based approach?Conclusion: 1.At present,English teachers in senior high schools basically understand the concept of English learning activities and its three forms of activities,and hold a high degree of recognition of this concept,but their understanding is not deep enough.2.Most senior High school English teachers can try to design and implement teaching activities in accordance with the concept of activity-based approach in class,but most of them focus on low-level activities related to comprehension activities,and the innovation activities are rarely involved and superficial.3.There are many factors that influence senior high school English teachers to practice the concept of activity-based approach: teachers’ insufficient theoretical understanding of the concept of activity-based approach,teachers’ lack of effective guidance in the process of practice,and heavy teaching burden.Therefore,teachers should improve the professional qualities and enrich their theoretical knowledge;Educational experts should give teachers more guidance in practice,and schools should give more attention and support,so that the concept of activity-based approach can be better implemented in classroom teaching. |
