An Analysis On Conflict Talk In Why Women Kill From The Perspective Of Pragmatic Rationality

Conflict talk is a discourse sequence with negative attitudes and emotions in communication.The study of conflict talk is conducive to the maintaining and improving expression norms.The existing relevant studies are mainly discussed from the aspects of expression,causes and influencing factors and generally focus on the analysis of language forms and strategies,ignoring the role of the rationality of the communicative subject in conflict talk.In other words,while paying attention to understanding the social significance of conflict talk,we do not pay enough attention to the rational communication and discussion between subjects.In short,the existing conflict talk research lacks a rational perspective.This study takes the conflict talk in the TV series Why Women Kill as the research subject.This play contains multiple types of conflict talk.Starting from the rationality of conflict communication,this paper analyzes the conflict talk in the play from the perspective of pragmatic rationality.This study aims to answer three questions: 1.How is pragmatic rationality distributed in the conflict talk in Why Women Kill? 2.What kind of linguistic form does pragmatic rational consciousness realized in the conflict talk in Why Women Kill? 3.What strategies are used to end conflict talk in Why Women Kill under pragmatic rational consciousness?The main findings are follows: 1.The deviation of communicative subjects from the principle of pragmatic rationality is mainly reflected in three aspects: cognition,practice and evaluation.The frequency of the communicative subject deviating from the requirements of legitimacy is high,and the frequency of deviating from the requirements of sincerity is low.2.Rational consciousness appears in three forms: meta-talk,talk and words.They can help the communicative subject explain his rationale understanding as clearly as possible and avoid misunderstanding the other party.3.There are four strategies to end conflict talk: obedience,compromise,interruption and exit.Among them,obedience and compromise are the two preferred strategies to end conflict talk.However,sometimes conflict talk may be interrupted by various accidents,and the talk has to end.In addition,exit is the most common way to solve conflict talk.This study is supported by pragmatic rationality theory,which enriches the research perspective of conflict talk.In practice,the pragmatic rational thinking contained in this study can provide guidance for harmonious discourse communication.At the same time,this study can also provide some reference for the study of conflict talk.
