Wang Duo was an outstanding calligrapher in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty.He was the backbone of innovation in the calligraphy world at that time.He continued to study ancient calligraphy all his life.After decades of calligraphy learning,he completed the first transformation of calligraphy art at the age of 50.Wang Duo’s "fifty self" Yanxiang guantie is the most representative.This post is well engraved and has both form and spirit.This paper first explores Wang Duo’s experience and the origin of Yanxiang guantie,then explores the reasons for the formation of Wang Duo’s aesthetic thought from philosophical thought,life experience and personal aesthetic orientation,and then explores the base copy,content and carving of Yanxiang guantie.Finally,it combs the value of Yanxiang guantie and explains its limitations.This paper is mainly based on literature,combined with field investigation,through the systematic study of Yanxiang guantie,it is helpful to understand Wang Duo’s calligraphy art and life experience in his later years and the society of the late Ming Dynasty.
