A Study On The Style Of Schubert’s String Quartet | | Posted on:2022-12-31 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:J Yang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2505306770996219 | Subject:China Ancient History | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The Austrian composer Franz Schubert(1797-1828)created a stunning number of musical works over his short life.He was known as the "King of Art Songs" for his important achievements in the fields of piano,chamber music,symphonies,and art songs.In the available studies,scholars have often overlooked Schubert’s achievements in the field of instrumental music,especially the string quartets.Schubert did not stop composing string quartets until his death from around 1810,so today there are 15 works for string quartets that have been preserved.It can be said that string quartets were composed throughout Schubert’s entire creative process.Thus,Schubert’s string quartets have witnessed the transformation of his musical style from Classical to Romantic.The compositional style of Schubert’s string quartets can be divided into three periods,and the three periods have different musical styles.The early string quartets are Schubert’s exploration of the genre and are composed with an experimental and entertaining nature.The mid-period compositions are poetic as a result of Schubert’s travels and his acceptance of foreign cultures.The later period is tragic due to Schubert’s illness and the darkness of feudal society.This paper will divide Schubert’s string quartet composition style into three periods along the trace of Schubert’s life.It will also select three representative string quartet works for ontological analysis.In this way,to analyze the different compositional styles of Schubert’s string quartets in the three periods and their influences on composers of later generations.Based on this,it will be a more comprehensive analysis of Schubert’s multifaceted musical life and a more in-depth discussion of the musical connotations and significance of Schubert’s string quartets. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Schubert, String Quartet, Style, Entertaining, Poetry, Tragedy | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
