A Case Study On The Collation Of Character In “Dangzuo（当作）” In Shuowenjiezizhu（说解字注）

In this paper,“Dangzuo（当作）”used by Duan Yucai in Shuowenjiezizhu（说文解字注）（hereinafter referred to as“Duanzhu”）is sorted out and analyzed.Taking“Dangzuo（当作）”Emendation and Replacement（hereinafter referred to as“Emendation”）as the research object,the relationship between the preceding item A and the latter item B in Duan’s“A Dangzuo（当作）B”is taken as the breakthrough point to understand his language content and concepts.The first sector is introduction,which elaborates the research status and the research signific ance of this topic,and then clarifies the research object——Collation of Character in“Dangzuo（当作）”and the research methods.The second sector is the overview of Duan Yucai’s emendation of character in“Dangzuo（当作）”in Shuowenjiezizhu（说文解字注）.We make statistics mainly from the correct or false attitudinal markers,correction form and number,divide the cases into correcting words and collating words.The correcting words and collating words are subdivided into several categories respectively.We find that the proportion of“word error”（字之误）and“sound error”（声之误）is less,and the“Borrowed word”（借字）,“Coarse word”（俗字）,“Current used word”（今行字）and other replaced words are the most.In terms of the correction form alone,both the Emendation and Replacement words correct words,accounting for about three-quarters of all Duanshi’s“Dangzuo（当作）”,which is consistent with the traditional correction term“Dangwei（当为）”.The third sector is the language analysis of the emendation of character in“Dangzuo（当作）”in Shuowenjiezizhu（说文解字注）,focusing on the analysis of the interlingual relationship between the“Positive（original）word”（正本字）and“Borrowed word”（借字）,the“Positive（original）word”（正本字）and“Coarse word”（俗字）,the“Ancient（abandoned）word”（古废字）and the“Current used word”（今行字）.From the perspective of the function of using words,the corresponding relationship between the items A and B is as follows:1)In the function of using words,the relationship between variant characters and variant characters,homologous synonyms and homologous synonyms,and the relationship between original characters and differentiated original characters;2)Borrowing functions in the original-through-false characters,borrowed-after-created characters,borrowed-through-false characters and borrowed-false characters and other relations.The conclusions of this part of“Dangzuo（当作）”case analysis are as follows.First of all,the borrowing functions of some ancient and modern Chinese characters and official and popular Chinese characters in Duanshi reflect the cross relationship between the two and the borrowed words,it is to say that the borrowed words are one of the important means for the formation of ancient and modern Chinese characters and official and popular Chinese characters.Secondly,the five concepts of“Positive（original）word”（正本字）",“Ancient（abandoned）word”（古废字）",“Borrowed word”（借字）,“Coarse word”（俗字）and“Current used word”（今行字）are not completely divided,reflecting the integrity of Duan’s language research and the diversity of dialectical perspectives.The fourth sector is Duan Yucai’s language concept reflected by Duan’s emendation of character in“Dangzuo（当作）”.Duan’s emendation of character in“Dangzuo（当作）”（especially the existence of word relations）,a good reflection of Duan’s“unity of form and meaning”（形义相一）concept of orthography and“ancient only as the one”（古只作某）,where the orthography and ancient words are mainly based on“Shuowen”（《说文》）.Finally,summarize and point out the shortcomings of this article.
