With the rapid development of economic globalization and the continuous improvement of China’s international status,we are in urgent need of a large number of high-quality international talents with ICC.Under this background,the importance of CEIT,which is seen as an important way to cultivate students’ ICC is self-evident.However,the current situation of CEIT is not optimistic.The author does a survey in GXSTNU,basing on relevance theory,constructivism learning theory and humanistic learning theory,taking 748 non-English major students and4 college English teachers from GXSTNU as the research subjects,through questionnaire,interview and classroom observation,aiming to answer the following questions:(1)How is the overall implementation of CEIT?(2)What are the main teaching methods used by teachers in intercultural teaching? And how effective is the teaching?(3)What are the problems in CEIT? The author tries to figure out the current situation of CEIT and existing problems,and put forward corresponding solutions.It is intended to provide a reference for college English teachers to conduct intercultural teaching and educational reform in GXSTNU.The research results shown that most teachers in GXSTNU have actively and consciously implemented intercultural teaching,and they could realize the importance of intercultural teaching and had certain intercultural teaching awareness,but there were still some outstanding problems,such as teaching methods were quite traditional,teaching innovation was insufficient,intercultural teaching effects were not optimistic,intercultural teaching ability of the teachers was inadequate,the university lacked intercultural teaching materials and intercultural teaching evaluation system and there was a phenomena of students’ native culture aphasia etc.In view of the above problems,this study put forward the following corresponding suggestions:(1)The teachers should improve teaching methods and enhance intercultural teaching effects.(2)The university authorities should strengthen teacher training and enhance teachers’ ICC.(3)The university authorities and the teachers should carry out the construction of teaching materials and choose appropriate intercultural teaching textbooks.(4)The university authorities should establish a sound intercultural teaching evaluation system.(5)The teachers should implement two-way cultural teaching mode to improve the current situation of native cultural aphasia.The thesis has some shortcomings,such as the research subjects are not extensive enough,and the feasibility of suggestions needs to be studied in depth.As for future studies,the scale of subjects should be expanded and the depth of study should be deepened to make the research results more applicable.
