Image And Memory ——The Influence Ofpeter Doig’s Painting On My Creation

With the development and popularization of modern photography technology in the 20th century,modern images have exploded with great communication potential,followed by the continuous questioning and challenge of the status of easel painting.The subtle relationship between image and painting is destined to be an unavoidable topic for every artist in the process of artistic creation.The painter Peter Doig achieved the integration and unity between the two in the process of painting creation.While Doig’s paintings are recognized and accepted by the world,it also shows the world that in the era of high dissemination of modern images,traditional easel painting still has irreplaceable value.This paper takes Peter Doeg’s growth experience as the starting point to explore why and how to use memory elements as creative materials.It also analyzes how Peter Doeg recreates with images and memory in the process of oil painting creation,and explores the relationship between this creative method and the intention between reality and dream revealed in Doeg’s painting.This paper combs and summarizes the research on Peter Doeg’s painting,and explains the impact of the research on his artistic creation methods on the author’s oil painting creation from three aspects:transformation of creative consciousness,the deliberation on composition and the thinking on composition.
