A Study Of The Image Space In The Perspective Of Heterotopia Theory

Foucault’s theory of heterotopia emerged from a spatial turn in the social sciences and humanities.The fields of media communication studies and humanities began to focus their research on the study of spatiality,which gave rise to many ontological and epistemological questions about the concept of space.The development of information media and the prevalence of consumerism have blurred the locality of natural physical space,and the mass application of media technology has enabled the high-speed flow of information while constructing an unprecedented virtual world.The connection between space and geographical location is marginalized,while the connection with media and images is established and increasingly strengthened,and the interaction between the image space produced by media and real life space is increasingly enhanced.Therefore,the study of this new type of heterogeneous space by means of heterotopia theory can fully understand a series of realistic problems brought about by it and provide possible solutions.The birth of heterotopia theory cannot be separated from the context of Foucault’s time and culture.Firstly,we need to analyze the concept of "space" retroactively,and briefly outline the origin and semantic extension of the word "space" in Chinese and Western cultural contexts.Secondly,we need to compare the concepts of "utopia" and "maltopia",which are formally similar to the concept of heterotopia,and the concept of "etopia",which is currently in a state of generation,and grasp the etymological and morphological aspects of the theory of heterotopia.We will further analyze Foucault’s ontological description of the concept of heterotopia,so as to understand and grasp the ontological characteristics of the concept of heterotopia.Based on the understanding of the concept of heterotopia,we trace the origin of the concept of "image",analyze the semantic changes and technological development,and develop a basic knowledge of the current media environment.The study of spatial cognition in the new media environment provides a basic understanding of new media and traditional media,new media and image information,and new media and spatial cognition.The first step in applying heterotopia theory to the study of image space is to examine the suitability between the applied object and the theory,to analyze the suitability of the characteristics of heterotopia and image space,to briefly explain the basic relationship between image heterotopia and Foucault’s core concept of "power",and to summarize the basic characteristics of image heterotopia on this basis After confirming the feasibility of the application of the theory,we further analyze the characteristics of image heterotopia.After confirming the feasibility of the application of the theory,we further analyze the classification of the image space and discuss a simple classification based on the frame rate per second or refresh rate per second.On this basis,we will briefly discuss the problems related to specific image spaces.The specific problems of film and TV video space,short video video space,online game video space and new technology video space are analyzed in the context of heterotopia theory.In this way,the theoretical value of heterotopia theory in the study of narrative structure,spatial production mode,spatial cognitive mode and image space is explored.The heterotopia theory reveals the real picture of modern living space: in what hidden way Cyber image space cuts the real physical space,and acts as an invisible glue to reconstruct the pieces of the cut space to form the complete spatial experience of individuals in the present.At a time when information is being produced visually and image space is highly invasive,heterotopia theory also provides a possible response to prevent getting lost in the pervasive image heterotopia.Heterotopia theory also has certain theoretical limitations,and it is the final point of the thesis to avoid the limitations of heterotopia theory and put forward constructive suggestions in the light of the current situation of domestic literary development.It is only by reflecting on the basis of analysis and elaboration that the ideas can be progressed and sublimated,so as to put forward assertions with more realistic significance.
