"Diluting" is an important concept in Chinese aesthetics.With the continuous development of social history,its meaning has been extended from the initial evaluation of personality to an aesthetic concept of "strong and indifferent",which is fully reflected in the painting art of the Yuan Dynasty.Yuan Dynasty painting is the peak of Chinese painting history,is also a turning point,literati painting really mature in the Yuan Dynasty,and was endowed with broader and far-reaching connotation.The Yuan Dynasty saw the emergence of literati painters represented by the Four Families of the Yuan Dynasty.They were not for physical servitude,pursued the realm of indifference and tranquility,attached importance to the expression of their own spirit,and often devoted themselves to the mountains and forests,fishing fields,and expressing their feelings in poetry and calligraphy.Their life attitude and artistic pursuit all embody the realm of "diluting".Therefore,it is necessary to conduct an in-depth interpretation on how the "diluting" aesthetics is reflected in the yuan Dynasty ink painting art and what kind of spiritual connotation is contained behind this aesthetic view.This paper will start from the context of the aesthetic concept of "diluting",explain the changes of its meaning,in order to have a systematic and overall understanding and grasp of it.Then it analyzes the characteristics of "concealment" and "freedom" of the Literati painters in yuan Dynasty,clarifies their thought source and behavior logic,and discusses the embodiment of "diluting" aesthetics in Yuan dynasty painting.Then it further analyzes the influence brought by the change of the whole social environment in The Yuan Dynasty,which mainly includes the change of the social and historical situation in the Yuan Dynasty and the influence brought by the philosophical trend of "the confluence of three religions" in the Yuan Dynasty.Finally,through exploring the change of the aesthetic attitude and aesthetic pursuit of the Painters in Yuan Dynasty and the significance of the "diluting" aesthetics in Yuan Dynasty and its influence on the later generations,to complete the discussion of the spiritual connotation and significance of the "diluting" aesthetics in Yuan Dynasty.
