Film music is a crucial part of film art.Throughout the centuries, the roots of the world’s classic film scores can often be traced back to ethnic music elements. The unique way of thinking, customs and aesthetic psychology of the Chinese people have provided resources and nutrients for the development of Chinese film music. As an important carrier of Chinese folk music, folk instrumental music plays an important role both in the presentation of film themes and in the construction of film styles. This paper explores the use of folk instrumental music in Chinese films since the new century, and summarizes the aesthetic effects of the interplay between Chinese films and folk instrumental music since the new century through the analysis and interpretation of the use of folk instrumental music in various types of films.Folk music is the root of Chinese film music creation, and folk instrumental music such as Gu Zheng,Gu Qin and Pi Pa are important carriers of folk music, and they have played an important role in many Chinese films since the new century. The "rhythm" of Gu Zheng music in Kung Fu is intrinsically intertwined with the "qi" of Chinese kung fu.The music of the Gu Qin in the film "Red Cliff" exudes the artistic effect of silence over sound, while "Hero","Shadow" and "The Assassin Nie Yinniang" convey a special flavor of shock and intoxication. To a large extent,Pi Pa music presents itself as a combination of femininity and masculinity. In Chinese cinema, there is an inextricable relationship between Pi Pa imagery and the image of women, and the circular sense of flux created by Pi Pa music allows for the emotional deconstruction of women’s psychological states. In Chinese martial arts and comedic films, traditional Pi Pa martial music brings multiple possibilities for film scoring. This paper focuses on the use of guzheng, guqin, pipa and other folk instrumental music in Chinese films since the new century, and proposes some theoretical perspectives that can provide some reference for the effective integration of Chinese folk instrumental music and film creation at some levels, thus promoting the transmission of excellent Chinese traditional culture. |
