Research On Kathi Weeks’ Feminist Thought

This thesis mainly studies Kathi Weeks’ feminist thought,the Introduction part introduces the reason for choosing the topic and research method,and makes a literature review on the research status of Kathi Weeks.The first chapter mainly focuses on Weeks critique of false romantic love at home and at work,discusses the manifestations of romantic love discourse in the family,and analyzes the reasons for its formation.Combined with Weeks’ discussion,this chapter summarizes the ways and causes of the disciplining of workers by false romantic love,and shows Weeks’ critical view of romantic love.Finally,it summarizes the ways to deal with false romantic love from Weeks’ discussion.The second chapter mainly discusses the emotional labor which is closely related to romantic love in Weeks’ theory.This paper analyzes the reasons for the neglect of emotional labor,and studies the relevant contents of emotional labor,which help us understand the subversive potential of women and lays a foundation for the construction of feminist standpoint theory.In the third chapter,Weeks puts forward countermeasures from reality in the face of patriarchy oppression caused by false romantic love in the family and capitalist exploitation caused by false romantic love in work,as well as the lack of attention to emotional labor.It mainly includes a critical view of the movement for housework wages,the refusal of nonwork,the fight for shorter working hours and the establishment of a basic income system.The aim is to liberate women and even all workers from exploitation and oppression,so as to achieve free and all-round development.The fourth chapter is mainly discuss Weeks’ feminist standpoint in theory.It includes paying attention to female labor experience,emphasizing the subjectivity of female labor,highlighting the collective,subversive and pluralistic characteristics of female labor,and providing two selective practices to construct the feminist standpoint theory.This provides a good theoretical perspective for us to fully understand Weeks’ feminist thoughts and get rid of the predicament of feminism.Through the study of Weeks’ feminist thoughts,we can pay more attention to women’s labor practice and individual experience value,respect women’s contribution to family labor,and re-examine the neglected emotional labor in social work.In the face of the dual oppression of heterosexual patriarchy and capitalism,Weeks puts forward specific ways of resistance,which can help women to participate in social production and reproduction with an equal status.Finally,the feminist standpoint theory can provide guidance for women to resist oppression at the theoretical level.However,we should also beware of the lack of conditions for Weeks’ refusal to work in real life,and the generalization of the policies for the implementation of the basic income system,which is difficult to apply in practice so as to fall into an empty theoretical discourse level.
