| The source text of this translation practice report is excerpted from the book Hearing Happiness written by Jaipreet Virdi.The work is a combination of personal memoir and lyrical history,based on the author’s own experience,it mainly tells the author‘s own experience of going through deafness and struggling to seek cure methods,and describes the development of deafness cure in American society.How deaf-mute people can communicate with people like normal ones is the direction of the efforts of medical experts from all walks of life.Based on this point,the literature on deafness is extremely important.Therefore,the author chooses the introduction part as the translation object,and on this basis,she writes the practice report.From the perspective of communicative translation theory,the author makes detailed analysis with specific cases,and further studies the instructive function of the theory in this kind of texts,and reviews and summarizes the whole process of this translation practice activity,and further analyzes the difficulties she encounters in the translation process.In the process of dealing with these translation problems,the author mainly analyzes from lexical,syntactic and textual levels,at the same time,due to the differences between English and Chinese these two languages,based on the communicative translation theory,she adopts amplification,conversion of part of speech,division and restructuring,omission and voice conversion methods in order to make the target text fluent and readable,and let the target readers have better reading feeling,meanwhile,enrich readers‘ knowledge about deafness.The report contains five parts: introduction,description of translation task,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.The author hopes that this translation practice report can provide some references and help for translation researchers and lovers occupying in the similar fields in the future,and by the way,can also offer supplementary information. |
