| Reversal news is one of the hot issues in the field of news communication that has attracted social attention in recent years.Various kinds of stigmatization and labels emerge endlessly,which affect the credibility of media.In particular,the topic of gender has attracted more and more attention and discussion.Therefore,this study mainly discusses how gender plays a role in reversing the social distance of news participants.The research consists of two parts: The first study explores the influence of the gender of the stranger involved on the reversal news,divided into two experiments.The social distance scale was used to evaluate the social distance between male and female strangers.In the formal experiment,participants were asked to read the reverse news with male and female protagonists,and the effect of gender on social distance was investigated on the basis of the preliminary experiment.In the second study,the IAT implicit Association test was used to investigate the effect of gender of the stranger involved in news reversal on participants’ attitudes.The research conclusions are as follows:Social distance is a concept that studies prejudice and tolerance among social groups,including the relationship between individuals as group members,the relationship between individuals representing individuality,and the direction of individual behavior.It is sometimes used to refer to group prejudice,cultural differences,and group interactions.Previous studies have mostly looked at social distance between ethnic groups,and few have looked at social distance between men and women.In the case of reversal news,no researchers have discussed whether the gender of the protagonist has an effect on people’s attitudes.（1）The gender of strangers significantly affected participants’ judgment of social distance.（2）The gender of the news subject significantly affected the participants’ judgment of social distance.（3）The gender of individuals has a significant impact on their judgment of social distance to others.（3）Individual gender has a significant impact on their judgment of social distance between news parties.（4）Before and after news reversal,the participants’ social distance to the stranger involved was significantly different.（5）Before and after news reversal,the participants’ implicit effect on the stranger involved was significantly different.（6）There is a significant difference in the amount of implicit effect between male news subjects and female news subjects.The above research results suggest that the gender of individuals and the gender of the stranger involved has a significant impact on the social distance and implicit attitude of the news participants.In addition,there was a significant difference in social distance between participants before and after news reversal,suggesting that news reversal could reverse the influence of participants on the parties involved and improve their attitudes towards the parties involved. |
