| The Synopsis of Basic Education Curriculum Reform(Trial)clearly points out that teaching is an interactive process.As a part of teaching,teacher-student interaction plays an important role in improving classroom atmosphere and enhancing English teaching effect.At present,the effect of teacher-student interaction in English classes in junior high school is not satisfactory.How to change the monotonous and one-way knowledge imparting in traditional English teaching and promote the interaction and communication between the teacher and students has become one of the research directions for scholars.How is the current situation of teacher-student interaction in English classes in junior high school? What are the specific performances of teacher-student interaction in English classes? Based on the two research questions,the study conducted a comprehensive investigation on the current situation of teacher-student interaction in English classes in junior high school.The study selected three ordinary middle schools in Yan’ an City randomly,with a total of 256 students and three English teachers as the research objects.First of all,the study mainly referred to the evaluation index of teacher-student interaction established by Zhang Xinming,which includes five dimensions: interaction goal,interaction content,interaction form,interaction feedback and interaction attitude.On the basis of the five dimensions,the study formulated the student questionnaire and did an anonymous questionnaire survey to 256 middle school students.Besides,the study drew on the observation scale of teachers’ assessment behavior in classes,which was proposed by Cui Lin and had four perspectives: teacher evaluation,student response,teacher feedback and teacher teaching were included in it.The study used the observation scale to observe the English classes of three English teachers for three months,with a total of 30 lessons are observed.The study also had interviews with three teachers according to the outline of the interview.Through the survey and analysis,the study has known about the specific performance of teacher-student interaction in English classes in junior high school from different perspectives: teacher-student interaction is at low frequency;both teachers and students had a grasp of interaction goals;teachers set the interactive content unreasonably;the forms of teacher-student interaction lacked innovation;teachers’ feedback wasn’t timely and targeted;students’ enthusiasm for teacher-student interaction needed to be improved.Thus,all of these resulted in poor implementation of classroom interaction between teachers and students in junior high school.In view of the above problems,the study proposed countermeasures to promote teacher-student interaction in English classes from three aspects: environment,teachers and students.First,create a constructivist classroom environment and implement constructivist teaching.Second,strengthen teacher training and promote professional development of teachers.Third,cultivate students’ interactive interest and help them form an independent and cooperative learning method.At last,establish a new type of teacher-student relationship and construct a harmonious class.These countermeasures could improve the effect of teacher-student interaction in English classes and promote the teaching and learning as expected. |
