Abstract/Summary:
Temporal attention refers to the concentration of attention resources on a specific point in time.Temporal cue paradigm is usually used in studies. When given time interval cues, individuals will have advantage in behavioral response, which is called Temporal cue effect(TCE).The temporal cueing effect was mainly reflected in short interval rather than long interval.Studies have shown that frontal and parietal brain region is the key brain region for temporal attention.Event-related Potential(ERP)such as N1 and Contingent Negative Variation(CNV)are the key physiological indicators for temporal attention. However, the combination of neuromodulation and EEG is rarely used in this field. Therefore, this study intends to explore the role of frontal and parietal brain region in temporal attention by using Transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS)and EEG.This study consists of three experiments.Experiment 1 identified the temporal cue effect in a short interval in one of two temporal cueing paradigm behavior experiments, and selected it for follow-up research.Experiment 2 used anodal, cathodal and sham tDCS modes to intervene in the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC),left posterior parietal cortex(PPC)and right PPC,and found that the intervention of anodal tDCS on the right PPC accelerated the response of subjects to a certain extent.with reference to previous studies.Follow-up studies were conducted with right PPC as a region of interest for temporal attention.Experiment 3 used anodal tDCS-EEG(Electroencephalography)technology to intervene in the right PPC,and found that the behavior of temporal attention was not affected. In ERP results,P1 and N1 were not modulated by temporal attention, and the mean amplitude of N1 in the left parieto-occipital brain region was significantly lower than that in the right side. The late components of P2 a in the left and right parietal occipital regions,N2 and CNV in the central frontal regions were modulated by temporal attention to some extent.Anodal tDCS intervention in the right PPC resulted in short-interval temporal cue effect in the peak P1 associated with the cue,and advanced the latency of P1 associated with the target in the right parietal occipital brain region and affected the short-interval temporal cue effect in the late component. In summary, this study explored the behavioral representation and neural mechanism of temporal attention by using temporal cue behavior experiment,tDCS and EEG.The results revealed the stability of the temporal cue effect in the short interval,as well as the change of ERP after anodal tDCS on the right PPC.The components of N1,P2 a,N2 and CNV may be physiological indicators of temporal attention, and the central frontal lobe and posterior parietal occipital lobe may play a role in temporal attention.
