English reading accounts for a large proportion in junior high school English teaching,but in the current junior high school English reading teaching classroom,some teachers’ teaching methods still stay on the surface of words and grammar.Teachers too much hope that students can improve their English achievement only by learning English knowledge,but ignore the method of teaching students how to learn English.In this way,students cannot change from passive acceptance of this knowledge to autonomous learning and absorption of knowledge.This thesis bases on discourse analysis and uses discourse analysis in English reading teaching classroom in junior high school and carries out English Reading Teaching for students from macro and micro levels.This thesis mainly studies the following two research questions: 1.What’s the effect of junior high school English reading teaching based on discourse analysis on students’ reading achievement? 2.What are the changes of students’ reading strategies after application of English reading teaching based on discourse analysis?Two rounds of action research are conducted on 44 students in a class of Grade8 in Hongqiao junior high school in Shenyang,Liaoning Province for three months.The subjects of the tests and questionnaires were 44 students in the class and 6 students were randomly selected from the class for interview.The purpose of the pre-test is to understand the students’ reading achievement and the current situation of using reading strategies.Two paired analyses are made on the data of the three tests to solve the first research question.The data of two post-questionnaires and the contents of two interviews are analyzed to solve the second research question.At last,the data during the two rounds of action research are collected and analyzed by using SPSS 22.0.After two rounds of action research,the experimental conclusions are as follows,firstly,the English reading teaching based on discourse analysis can improve the students’ English reading achievement.Secondly,the English reading teaching based on discourse analysis can help students make better use of reading strategies.Students can get the general content and find the corresponding answer in the article by using skimming and scanning,can predict the content through key information and identify the cohesive words to further understand the content and structure of the discourse and can effectively guess new words’ meaning in the discourse.
