| Written in 1984 by Taiwanese composer Tan Jianchang, the lyrics of "Clouds in My Hometown" are written from a first-person perspective, using anthropomorphic techniques to give soul to the clouds in the sky and to illustrate the theme of "longing for home".Its classic melody and catchy lyrics,as well as the strong feelings of homesickness in the bones of the Chinese people expressed in the song, have led many composers and singers to choose this song as the subject of their adaptations among many old classics. This article takes the study of the vocal technique and the expression of emotion in the singing practice of the song ’Clouds in my hometown’ as a starting point, and compares the singing methods, singing characteristics and emotional processing of the song by Fei Xiang,Liu Shan and Liang Ning,in order to explore the singing technique of the song and gain experience for their own singing practice. The article consists of four parts: the first part is an overview of the background of the composition of the song and an analysis and summary of the musical characteristics of the song to set the mood of the music;the second part aims to learn from the singing experience and selects the three singers’ singing versions to explore them and find their own singing position;the third part is mainly combined with their own practical experience, from the perspective of the processing of vocal technique and the processing of the emotion of the song when singing. In the third part,I combine my own practical experience with a deeper understanding of the song from the perspectives of vocal technique and emotional processing of the song, and finally I summarise the personal vocal learning inspiration and meaning gained during the exploration of the work, hoping to provide some reference for future vocal learners and singers. |
