"Sh(?)o(少)A Du(?)(多)B" is a common form of language in our written and spoken language(A and B denote variables). On the basis of construction theory, this paper makes a comprehensive study of "Less A more B" construction by combining the theory of three plane grammar and cognitive grammar. The introduction mainly explains the reasons for the topic selection, the significance of the topic selection, the research methods and the review of the current research situation. The main part is from chapter two to chapter seven. In the second chapter,we define the construction of "Less A more B" by referring to Fan Xiao’s relevant viewpoints and theories.According to the types of Goldberg’s construction,we further define this construction as schema construction. At the same time,We have classified the "Sh(?)o(少)A Du(?)(多)B" configuration, including formal classification and typical types.Form types include " Sh(?)o(少)VP1 Du(?)(多)VP2"," Sh(?)o(少)V1 Du(?)(多)V2"," Sh(?)o(少)NP1 Du(?)(多)NP2" and " Sh(?)o(少)V Du(?)(多)NP".This approach,in essence,is to initially explore the scope of words that can enter the "Less A more B" construction. In addition,we indicate that the typical members of the construction should be " Sh(?)o(少)V1 Du(?)(多)V2".On the basis of the second chapter, the third chapter makes an analysis from the syntactic point of view, and finds that the construction can act as a syntactic component,a clause in a complex sentence and a sentence alone. When acting as a syntactic component, often act as the subject, predicate, object, attributive, part can also be adverbial. The fourth chapter analyzes the semantic meaning of "Less A more B" construction, including the analysis of the meaning of "Less A more B" construction and the semantic meaning of construction components,as well as the analysis of the internal and external semantic relations of construction.Through a detailed analysis,we reveal the semantic features of the construction and its components. The structure meaning of the whole structure can be expressed as an optimized choice through subjective adjustment of the ratio of quantities. We find that the construction is polysemous. The construction constants are "more" and "less",which have the characteristics of implicit quantity and relativity. In our opinion,"more" and "less" in this construction represent the significance of quantity, which is blurred or weakened. We no longer emphasize the specific quantity, but emphasize subjective evaluation. In the fifth chapter,we analyze the construction of "Less A more B" pragmatically, including pragmatic features and pragmatic functions. On the basis of revealing the meaning of construction, this paper further explains the pragmatic environment of construction. It is found that the construction has some pragmatic features, such as discipline, suggestion, expectation and objective description. In addition,it also has some pragmatic functions, such as subjective expression, focal point highlighting and textual cohesion. In Chapter 6,we compare the construction of "Less A more B" with the two similar constructions "more A,more B" and "X,more X,less" from three aspects of syntax, semantics and pragmatics, and find that they have similarities and differences. In chapter 7,we analyze the structure dynamically from diachronic plane on the basis of the above study of synchronic plane. In the process of evolution, the structure has undergone a series of means such as deformation, compression and integration, and has gradually evolved into a construction under the joint action of analogy mechanism, image schema and linguistic economy. The last part is the conclusion. This chapter is the summary of the core points of the thesis and points out the innovation and shortcomings of the thesis.
