The rapid development of AI(Artificial Intelligence)in today’s world has brought significant changes in the interpreting and translation industry,leading to the rise of MTPE(Machine Translation and Post-editing),which improves the efficiency of translation.The author is very interested in this sector and watches relevant playbacks of online lectures given by Professor Li Changshuan and Professor Wang Huashu to conduct a simulated consecutive interpreting practice from Chinese to English.Their lectures put emphasis on the advantages as well as disadvantages of machine translation and introduce some advanced technologies.After implementing the project,the author re-analyzes the interpreting process and finds out some problems by transcribing the text and referring to relevant studies done by previous scholars.These problems can be summarized into three aspects: first,problems caused by inappropriate pause;second,difficulty involving number interpreting in technical discourse;third,the insufficient display of interpreter’s role in online lectures.In order to solve these problems,the author provides some corresponding countermeasures based on profound reflections: first,avoiding inappropriate pause by improving the preparations before interpreting,employing “Stimulated Recall Approach” to represent the inner cognitive state,utilizing the “Interpretive Theory”and the “Effort Model Theory” to redistribute energy resources and so on;second,practicing number interpreting by recording with segmented commas,filling in blanks,summarizing tips and exercising in groups;third,developing a better understanding of the role of interpreter in online lectures on the basis of Translator and Interpreter’s Subjectivity.It is hoped that this report could provide some references for improving the online interpreting performance in the domain of language science and technology,and could contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and interpreting for relevant learners.
