Research On The Narrative Of Xiaxie Novels In The Late Qing Dynasty

Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty are not only the continuation and end of traditional literature,but also the embryo and precursor of modern literature.Because of its unique narrative style,it has become one of the three important novel types,as well as chivalrous crime novels and condemnation novels.This paper is devoted to the narrative research of Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty,which will be carried out from the following four aspects:Chapter one investigates the tradition of Xiaxie novels and brothel literature in the late Qing Dynasty.Starting from the cultural origin of Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty.this paper combs the origin and evolution of the ancient brothel literature tradition.On this basis,the paper analyzes the embodiment of brothel narrative tradition in Xiaxie novels;Then combining with the author’s creation motive,it explains the inheritance and decline of the tradition of "excessive beauty".Chapter two discusses the rise of Xiaxie novels and modern urban narration in the late Qing Dynasty.Based on the background of modern city,this paper analyzes the narrative characteristics of modern city in Xiaxie novels.Combined with the creative theme and narrative characteristics of "A Dream of Wind and Moon" and "A Biography of Flowers on the Sea",this paper discusses the "realistic" style in urban narrative.This paper discusses the tendency of "excessive evil" under the city commercialization with two points of "extremely copying the evil of prostitutes" and "imparting the suspicion of prostitution" in "Dream of Prosperity on the Sea","Nine-tailed Turtle" and "nine-tailed Fox".Chapter three studies the narrative strategy of Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty.This paper analyzes the novel text from three aspects:advance narration,narrative Angle of view and image narration.Advanced narration is a narrative strategy,which is manifested by quoting dreams,poems,divination and other forms to hint the fate of characters,anticipate the trend of plots,and highlight the mentality of characters.From the perspective of narration,Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty generally adopt an omniscient perspective,but from the perspective of dynamics,they often realize the flow of perspective in the way of characters or multiple perspectives,and then combine local knowledge into global omniscience.In image narration,the writers of Xiaxie novels analyze Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty positively and deeply with the help of various images,so as to enrich the text meaning of the novels.Chapter four explores the literary value of Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty.From the perspective of literary inheritance,Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty inherited and innovated the tradition of writing love in a Dream of Red Mansions,which was embodied in the following two aspects:using the "back-powder" method,imitating "talking about love";Xiaxie novel is one of the products of the social transformation in the late Qing Dynasty.In addition,Xiaxie novels in the late Qing Dynasty showed distinct stylistic consciousness,which had a profound influence on the creation of later novels,such as yuanyang butterfly school,modern writers Yu Dafu and "new feeling school" writers.
