Novice teachers,as the important back-up force of teaching contingent,have always been one of the heat discussed topics in educational research.However,there are still many challenges for novice teachers during the process of teaching and education.Among which,school-based research becomes the subject study of the great importance.As an effective way to promote teachers’ professional development,the importance of school-based teaching research is self-evident.With the implementation of the “double reduction” policy,there is greater demand of the proficient teaching contingent.Therefore,based on the current actual situation of school-based teaching and research and the real situation of middle school English novice teachers’ participation in school-based teaching and research in Mianyang S middle school,the study explores the current situation and problems of middle school English novice teachers’ participation in school-based teaching and research activities by systematically combing the relevant theories and concepts of school-based teaching and research,novice teachers and teachers’ professional development.On the basis of the research results,the paper uncovers the problems,analyzes the causes and puts forward corresponding countermeasures,trying to provide a plan for the above mentioned middle school English novice teachers to participate in school-based teaching and research and reduce confusion and enhance teachers’ professional development.This paper is divided into 6 chapters to discuss the problems and countermeasures of English novice teachers in middle school involved in school-based teaching and research.By interviewing 13 teachers from three groups at different levels in Mianyang S middle school,and analyzing the cases of novice English teachers involved in school-based teaching and research at school,from the perspective of novice teachers and school level.Upon the 2 analysis angle of novice teachers and school,it is learned that the novice English teachers in S middle school are facing the problems of vague understanding of school-based teaching and research,insufficient reserve of proficiency and unsatisfactory professional status;At the school level,there are mainly problems of unbalanced management system of school-based teaching and research,meager humanistic care and lack of professional guidance.Through interviews and case studies of teaching and research activities,the study specifically addresses the difficulties faced by novice English teachers in S middle schools participating in school-based teaching and research from two angles.To begin with,novice teachers should foster their consciousness of the subject of school-based teaching and research,improve their competency through varied channels and adjust their state of mind at work.In addition,school needs to balance management system of school-based teaching and research,promote humanistic care,and strengthen professional guidance.
