| Folding Beijing won the Hugo Award in 2016.Ken LIU,the translator of this work, has made a significant contribution. The translator is considered to be at the core of the process of translation, and his subjectivity is essential to the output of the target text. This thesis explores the translator’s subjectivity in the Ken LIU’s translation from the perspective of Steiner’s hermeneutic translation theory, namely the four stages of "trust","aggression",“incorporation" and "compensation",to analyze how the translator skillfully dealt with the inter-linguistic and inter-cultural differences with his own cultural awareness and judgment. After analysis, this thesis concludes that Ken LIU exerted his translator’s subjectivity in all four stages, which is manifested in his recognition of the original work in the stage of trust, his understanding of the original work in the stage of aggression, his translation expressions in the stages of incorporation and compensation. At the same time, this thesis also holds that translators should give full play to the translator’s subjectivity and restore the balance between the original work and translation, striving to better bridge the gap between the two languages and cultures. |
