By exposing the narrative behavior,metafiction highlights the fiction of the novel and expands the scope of the novel to reflect the reality.The practice of metafiction in the new period marks the awakening and strengthening of the novel’s self-consciousness,which is of great significance to the development and breakthrough of the novel art in the 1980s and beyond.It can be said that the practice of metafiction in the new period is one of the typical examples of the transformation of novel discourse and a major innovation in the concept of novel.A comprehensive observation of the practice of metafiction in the new period can clarify the theoretical and ideological sources of metafiction in the new period and its different morphological characteristics in the development process,so as to understand the acquisition process of contemporary people’s conscious concept of novel style and reposition the function and value of novels.This paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly discusses and evaluates the research status of metafiction in the new era,and expounds the research focus of this paper on the basis of summarizing the previous research results.The second chapter mainly defines the concept of metafiction,and expounds the core characteristics of metafiction.Scholars at home and abroad have discriminated the concept of metafiction.This chapter combs the representative views,and summarizes the core characteristics of metafiction combined with specific works.The third chapter mainly combs the development process of metafiction in the new period,and summarizes the different types of metafiction.According to the different forms of frame breaking,the meta novels in the new period can be divided into the following three types: direct exposure,parody and game.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the reasons for the rise of the practice of metafiction in the new era.This chapter comprehensively and deeply discusses the reasons for the rise of metafiction practice in the new era from four aspects: the social and cultural context of China in the 1980s,the renewal of writers’ view of reality and the awakening of creative subject identity,the translation,introduction and dissemination of western theories and works,and the inheritance and inheritance of traditional novel meta narrative techniques,so as to clarify the theoretical and ideological sources of metafiction in the new era.The fifth chapter is mainly from the perspective of the development and evolution of metafiction in the new period to see the changes in the concept of fiction.From the perspective of the evolution of novel concept,the breakthrough of meta novel to traditional novel concept is in-depth.It can be said that the practice of metafiction is a major innovation in the concept of fiction,which has a lasting and far-reaching impact on the later novel creation.The emphasis on fiction,the exploration of narration and the prominence of the aesthetics of novel games in metafiction undoubtedly provide a new possibility for the traditional world to open up new thinking.Of course,such a subversive creative mode also has some insurmountable limitations,such as the lack of content and the paleness of thought caused by paying too much attention to narrative skills,which need to be treated dialectically.On the basis of the text,the conclusion part simply summarizes the research results of the paper,and points out the shortcomings of the paper and the possible academic prospects.
