Mommy Wars is written by an American writer Leslie Morgan Steiner and the other twenty-six female writers. This collection of autobiographies mainly introduces the dilemma between family and career when women get married, and the conflict between working moms and stay-at-home moms. The purpose of this book is to diminish this war, give advice to women who are struggling between family and career, and show readers the sophisticated situation of modern women. The feminist translation theory, boomed with feminism, emphasizes the role of translators and underlines equivalence at the illocutionary level to interfere and rewrite the source text.Under the guidance of feminist translation theory, the translator conducts the research from the lexical, syntactic and discourse level. At the lexical level, two translation techniques are fully discussed: amplification and conversion;when it comes to the syntactic level, restructuring and division are applied;at the textual level, two translation techniques including four-character structure and combination complete the report significantly.Except for the appliance of translation techniques, the guidance of feminist translation theory to the translation practice is considerately analyzed. The translation of this book is to spread some thoughts of western women,so that the tough situation of modern women can be paid more attention and some western practices can be referenced to make a balance between career and family for women. Also, the translator has analyzed and summarized her experiences gained in the translation practice from the perspective of feminist translation theory, intending to provide a reference for the practice of English-Chinese translation of feminist texts.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 31...
