Lotman’s cultural semiotics theory was born in the 1960 s.After decades of development,it has become an important representative of the modern russian literary theory school. It can combine content and form, internal structure and external background, meanwhile it’s scope extending from language to literature, then from literature to culture, finally construct a unified context to fully explain the three. The theory of cultural semiotics demonstrates the spirit of historicism and scientism, and has had a huge impact on the world academic circles. Therefore, the research on this theory has become more abundant in recent years.Analysing translation activities from the perspective of Lotman’s cultural semiotics is a important applications of this theory. The language and characters that make up the text of poetry have symbolic attributes, and the practice of translation spans two symbolic spaces, which is the basis for the combination of translation and semiotics.Lotman’s early theoretical focus was on structural poetics,in which the question of meaning generation discussed has a guiding role in the interpretation of the poetic symbol system, and the later one changes to the symbolic domain, which provides a new perspective for the interpretation of the cultural factors in poetry translation process. It can be said that Lotman’s cultural semiotics provides a complete framework for studying poetry translation.Wang Wei is an marvelous poet in the Tang Dynasty in China, whose works are unique and highly appraised. His works also favored by many scholars in russian sinology. There are abundant resources of russian translations of relevant poems, which are indispensable for studying the russian translation of Chinese classical poetry.Meanwhile,Wang Wei’s pastoral poems are ethereal, full of Zen,and contain a lot of Chinese cultural elements. These russian translations of wangwei’s poetry are good examples for studying cultural cross-ethnic communication.Begining with Lotman’s cultural semiotics, combing the two basic modules of his school-structural poetics and cultural semiotics, and explaining the poetry translation activities this thesis upholds to the principle of combining theory with practice,.Afterwards, based on the Luo style theory, there is a detailed analysis of multiple russian translations of Wang Wei’s poetry which are carried out from the levels of poetic text structure and cultural factors in poetry.
