Study On C-E Translation Of The Terms With Chinese Characteristics In The Chinese Government Work Report(2019)from The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

With the implementation of China’s policy of reform and opening up,international community demand for learning about The Chinese Government Work Report has been increasing year by year.Political literature has become a vital publicity document and it is an irreplaceable channel for the world to comprehend China.This thesis,guided by Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory,aims to appreciate the Chinese-English translation of the terms with Chinese characteristics in The Chinese Government Work Report(2019).On the basis of Functional Equivalence Theory,this thesis intends to appreciate the Chinese-English translation of the terms with Chinese characteristics in The Chinese Government Work Report(2019),make a comprehensive analysis of the terms with Chinese characteristics in The Chinese Government Work Report(2019)and explore whether this theory can play a practical guiding role in the translation of the terms with Chinese characteristics in The Chinese Government Work Report(2019).The research methods employed in this thesis mainly consist of classification method and exemplification method.The author firstly classifies the terms with Chinese characteristics in The Chinese Government Work Report(2019),marks the translation methods for each term,and then contrasts the Chinese and English expressions of these terms with Chinese characteristics,especially the English translation of the same terms.At the same time,the author studies 207 examples in The Chinese Government Work Report(2019)and appreciates the translation methods of the terms with Chinese characteristics from the perspective of Functional Equivalence Theory.What is more,this thesis also analyzes the defects in the translation of the terms with Chinese characteristics in The Chinese Government Work Report(2019)on the basis of Functional Equivalence and attempts to make some improvements so that readers can have a correct understanding of The Chinese Government Work Report(2019).
