Objectives: In the process of obtaining information, human beings have the ability to suppress irrelevant information and point attention to effective information. The existence of inhibition link means that self-control is particularly important in the activities of individuals to obtain information, such as learning.Inhibition of misconduct or dominance is the main form of self-control.In the dual-task paradigm combining working memory task with target search task, working memory can match working memory items with target features and distractions. The former can effectively guide the optimal choice of attention, while the latter strengthens the intensity of interference and highlights the ability to suppress the tendency of dominance. As a group with low self-control ability,Internet Addictive Tendencies are found to perform better in working memory-visual search tasks. At present,it is unclear whether the important factor of self-control works. Therefore,we try to explore this problem through experimental research.Method:(1)Study 1 used the Chen Shuhui-Chinese Internet Addiction Scale Revised(CIAS-R)and the College Student Self-Control Scale to investigate the self-control characteristics of Internet addictive tendencies.(2)Experiment 1 of Study 2 adopts a mixed experimental design of 2(participants: Internet Addictive Tendencies;non-Internet Addictive Tendencies)× 2(experimental conditions: invalid conditions;neutral conditions),and the experimental conditions are internal variables of the subjects. To verify the response advantage of Internet addicted people in attention guided by non-target working memory representations.(3)Experiment 2 of Study 2 adopts a mixed experimental design of 2(participants: Internet Addictive Tendencies;non-Internet Addictive Tendencies)× 2(ego depletion: depletion;non-depletion)× 2(experimental conditions: invalid conditions;neutral conditions). The research is carried out in a mixed-factor experiment design,in which the experimental conditions are internal variables of the subjects. The experiment consisted of three stages: In the first stage, the classical Stroop paradigm was adopted for the ego depletion task;In the second stage, the emotion and ego depletion effects were assessed by some questionnaire; In the third stage, the working memory-visual search dual-task paradigm with attention inhibition as the main investigation point was adopted.Result:(1)The total score and the self-control scores in all dimensions of Internet Addiction Tendencies are significantly lower than those of non-Internet Addiction Tendencies.(2)There is a significant interaction in the participants and ego depletion.Under the non-depletion conditions, the search response time of Internet Addictive Tendencies is significantly faster than the non-Internet Addictive Tendencies. The difference is not significant under depletion conditions.(3)There is a significant interaction in the ego depletion and experimental conditions.Under the non-depletion and depletion conditions, the search response time of neutral experimental conditions is significantly faster than the invalid experimental conditions.(4)There is a significant difference in the response time between the depletion conditions and the non-depletion conditions of the Internet Addiction Tendencies, and the response time under the depletion conditions and the non-depletion conditions is not significant.(5)There is a significant difference in the attention guidance effect of the Internet Addictive Tendencies under the depletion and non-depletion conditions, and the attention guidance effect of the non-Internet Addictive Tendencies is not significant under the depletion and non-depletion conditions.(6)There is a significant interaction in the participants, ego depletion and experimental conditions.Under two depletion conditions of Internet Addictive Tendencies and non-Internet Addictive Tendencies, the search response time of neutral experimental conditions is significantly faster than the invalid conditions.Conclusions:(1)Compared with non-Internet Addictive Tendencies,Internet Addictive Tendencies have lower self-control ability.(2)When self-control resources are relatively abundant,Internet Addictive Tendencies tend to perform better than those with non-Internet Addictive Tendencies;when self-control resources are consumed,Internet Addictive Tendencies tend to have no advantage.(3)Both Internet Addictive Tendencies and non-Internet Addictive Tendencies have the attention guidance effect under the two ego depletion treatment conditions, and the ego-depletion treatment increases the effect size of Internet Addictive Tendencies.(4)Compared with non-Internet Addictive Tendencies, the self-control resources of Internet Addictive Tendencies are more likely to be depleted. |
