| From what we can see,the world is full of colors.Any object has a color,even the human body has a skin color.Color terms are currently a hot topic in academic research and one of the frontier topics in contemporary linguistics research.This thesis will focus on the other two physical properties of color saturation and lightness.This research selects 8 basic color terms.First,it does a research on Chinese.Through searching the corpus,we get the usage of Chinese related color terms,and then explore how Chinese expresses the changes of color brightness and saturation,and get the degree of Chinese color.The expression rule is to make a matrix diagram of the expression of the basic color terms in Chinese.Then expand the scope of the investigation and conduct cross-language investigations.Through the investigation of native speakers of various languages,it is explored and studied how other languages in the world express the degree of color changes.Finally,we will compare the collected data to get the law of expression of the degree of color terms.There are five chapters in this research.The first chapter introduces the subject’s research object and scope,domestic and foreign research trends and main research methods.Chapters 2 to 3 are the main part of this article.They investigate Chinese,Tibetan,English,French,Russian,Uzbek,Somali,and Arabic respectively,and find out the commonalities and differences in the use of color terms in these languages.The fourth chapter is the conclusion of this article based on this research.The conclusion is an evaluation of the innovation and deficiencies of this article.This paper has the following innovations:(1)This paper focuses on the study of color terms on lightness and saturation.Color has three physical characteristics: hue,lightness,and saturation.Most previous studies have focused on hue.Through the study of lightness and saturation,this paper expands the research scope of color terms and increases the cognition of color terms.(2)This paper has done a cross-language research on the degree expression of color terms.We chose some languages that have less research on color terms,such as Tibetan and Somali.Cross-language research can better find the commonalities and differences of color terms. |
