A Study Of Quadrisyllabic Words In Yi Language:From The Perspective Of Prosodic Phonology

Starting from the prosodic perspective,this paper clarifies the qualitative problem of Yi tetrasyllabic words,defines it as a "super word" from the syntactic level,is a compound prosodic word in prosodic word formation,and defines the 2+2structure as the standard tetrasyllabic phonetic form of Yi language.Based on the syllable structure types of Yi four syllable words,this paper systematically describes the prosodic structure of Yi four syllable words,analyzes the stress expression of Yi four syllable words by combining the methods of stress perception,stress derivation and experimental phonetics,and expounds the main reasons for the emergence of Yi four syllable words.It is mainly divided into the following partsFirst of all,from the prosodic elements,this paper expounds the prosodic phenomenon of Yi language,and clarifies the syllable structure,step and stress of Yi language.There are monosyllabic,disyllabic and trisyllabic steps in Yi language.Disyllabic is the most powerful step.Monosyllabic and trisyllabic are close to disyllabic by the way of pause,which is not the most natural step.Secondly,the definition of Yi four syllable words is clarified.It is considered that Yi four syllable words are "super words" syntactically and compound prosodic words in terms of prosodic word formation;Restricted by the "fixed pattern" of prosody,the combination form of syllable structure is 2+2,and the structure is fixed,which is parallel or symmetrical;There are also many overlaps in the collocation of consonants,vowels and tones.This paper also combines the methods of stress deduction,phonological perception and phonological experiment,and concludes that the stress distribution tendency pattern of Yi language is that the first syllable and the third syllable are easy to obtain the main stress and the secondary stress respectively,but such stress distribution is not decisive.Finally,this paper discusses the reasons for the emergence of Yi four syllable words and their syntactic functions under the constraints of prosody.This paper argues that the existence of a large number of tetrasyllabic words in Yi language is mainly due to the constraints of expression demand,disyllabification and tetrasyllabic prosodic pattern;as a super word,tetrasyllabic words play the role of words in syntax,mainly as subject,predicate,object and so on.
