| Sculpture art has developed from the single clay sculpture in the primitive society to the sculpture in the modernist period,and the materials in each period are changing.On the basis of the continuous exploration of material language and material concept,and through the continuous practice of many artists,multiple materials have gradually become an important medium widely used in installation art,and soft materials are no exception to become a very important one among many media.In the context of the current installation art,soft materials have been endowed with multiple meanings,which are not only relative to the "hard" material characteristics,but also implied with sociality,history and culture.Therefore,this paper no longer considers the significance of soft materials only from the perspective of material ontology,but analyzes the cultural value and conceptual significance of soft materials in the context of contemporary culture.Installation art is an important art category formed with the continuous evolution of modern sculpture language and materials.Based on this,this paper discusses soft materials in the category of installation art.In fact,it should be divided into the following three situations: the first is the installation art which directly uses natural soft materials to express emotions and explore space;The second is installation art that directly uses primary materials to shape,emphasizing more on the experience of the site.The third is installation art that uses soft ready-made materials.In the fourth chapter,this paper analyzes how soft materials express their artistic qualities in installation art.The characteristic expression of soft materials in installation art is to grasp the most common and obvious "soft" nature of soft materials.Soft materials give viewers a daily or functional orientation before they enter installation art,but after they are used by artists,they change their indicative meaning.Soft materials have different properties from traditional hard materials in terms of visual transformation,so soft materials are often used in installation art to break through the visual effect of traditional art,to achieve a stronger body feeling,and to shorten the distance between works and viewers.The fifth chapter discusses soft materials from the perspective of meaning generation.First of all,in terms of conceptual expression,the conceptual transformation of soft materials is the result of the free combination and interweaving of the traditional meaning orientation carried by the original materials and external factors,thus generating an infinite possible meaning network.Secondly,in terms of aesthetics,the aesthetic transformation of soft materials has two ways: one is the local,to a certain extent,the appearance of the form of the change,resulting in the aesthetic separation;The other is the combination of soft materials to emphasize the aesthetic experience of the viewer’s body.On the level of deconstruction,the use of soft materials can deconstruct gender and author-centrism,making the meaning of installation art diversified.In the sense of context,installation art using soft materials faces the context of art history and social reality.Finally,the application significance of the combination of soft materials and new technologies in this paper: while the types and definitions of soft materials are constantly expanding,the soft and changeable material properties can often bring "new" experience to the viewers. |
