| Ignacio Iturria(1949-)is a contemporary artist born in Montevideo,Uruguay, and one of the most accomplished contemporary artists in Uruguay and Latin America. The term’dreaming’ can be interpreted as Ituria’s surreal interpretation of memory and fantasy, his artworks are known for their rich portrayal of dream fantasies and childhood memories, their strong narrative nature, their fusion of neo-expressionism and surrealism, and their language of proportion and surrealism. The language of his paintings is dominated by unusually proportioned figures, architecture and interior furnishings, created entirely out of his personal experience. He creates an art world that is not yet a ’fixed’ existence, and as a keen observer he is concerned with the emotional emergence and improvisation of the painting process, focusing on the interplay between the elements in the picture.Ituria uses his art to reveal the multiple facets of life while leading the viewer to look at it with a sense of hope. This is similar to the category of ’not yet’ introduced by the German philosopher Ernst Bloch in the realm of utopian spirituality, where Bloch posited the subject as a hopeful being that has yet to be realised.Ituria,on the other hand, attempts to capture and convey the experience of life in his paintings, stating that the human mind is spontaneous and self-conscious,that this spontaneity and self-consciousness is inherent to the mind and is not bound by external factors.Ituria himself followed this idea in his artistic practice, which is also related to the core of the utopian spirit that sees man as an unfinished process,a subject that is always beyond its own limitations and present state, and by using such a concept to guide artistic activity, then man is not a being in a state of finality, but a being that is always open to possibilities, because of this evolving human The essay focuses on Ignatian art as an expression of the nature of the human being, which has acquired the character of being always open to the future. The essay analyses the sources of Ignacio Ituria’s art through the collation and study of existing domestic and international sources, focusing on the formation of Ituria’s art in Chapter 2 and the stylistic characteristics in Chapter 3,and introducing the utopian perspective of Ernst Bloch’s philosophy to interpret Ituria’s art in Chapter 3 to further illustrate the true vision beneath the surface of his artistic style. The fourth chapter is a study of the author’s artistic practice as a result of his study of the formal composition of Ituria’s work,in which he draws on the methodology of Ituria’s work in his own work.I have tried to select ordinary events and people around me,and to break the traditional rules and proportions of perspective by choosing a multi-point perspective with blurred boundaries. In this way,the author finds a direction and a new breakthrough in his own search for a painting... |
