| The development of a child is deeply influenced by the preschool education he receives.‘Bad habits are hard to alternate after the age of preschooler’ said by Dr.Maria Montessori.Bloom,a psychologist of University of Chicago,indicated that ‘age five is the golden time for the development of the intelligence of children.’ Kimura,a Japanese scholar,pointed out ‘the later the education begins,the less potential of a child can be activated in his life.’ Accumulating knowledge should not be the main task for children at their preschooler age.Instead they should focus on building up good quality,altitude,sympathy and capability at this age.Therefore,this thesis adopts the Montessori education methods and designs a color-changing pop-up book for preschoolers.Montessori education methods act as the guidance principle in this thesis.In order to gain a clearer view of consumer’s taste,a survey is carried out.According to the analysis of the survey,this thesis decides to create a color-changing pop-up fairy tale book.The book is designed for children aging from three to six years old.The design of the book applies interactive design,pop-up design,paper-craft design,solar-active light colors,and neon colors.An ultraviolet flash torch is also included in the design in order to shine up the ultraviolet color dye.The solar-active color dyes would then encourage the kids to move outdoors under the direct sunlight in order to see the magical solar-active colors.These embedded designs certainly enhance the interactions between the readers and the story themselves.It makes reading more enjoyable and,then,enhances preschoolers’ reading habits.This product design and this thesis aim to foster the reading habit,to build up the cognitive ability,and the ability to correctly apply tools for preschoolers so that they can be better prepared to enter elementary school programs flawlessly. |
