| The Dutch school set off the "empirical turn" of the international philosophy of technology and put forward the theory of the dual attributes of structure and function of technological artifact.Since then,the study of artifact has become an important topic in the contemporary philosophy of technology and engineering.However,due to the logical gap between structure and function,and the duality of mind and object,the study of artificial objects of Dutch school is in a dilemma and needs to seek a new research path.The original thinking about "artifact" began in ancient Greece.Aristotle’s theory of four factors implies the original philosophical conception of the concept of artifact,which has many possibilities to be explained.Since modern times,due to the popularity of the concept of mechanical cause and effect,Aristotle’s theory of four causes has been interpreted as a mathematical,mechanical,substantive and abstract model.The explanation of artifact with this model will certainly cut off the essential connection between artifact and human existentialism,and will inevitably lead to misreading and covering the existential realm implied in Aristotle’s theory of four causes.Facing such misreading,Heidegger even thinks that Aristotle’s physics,a western philosophical work,has never been properly studied.Heidegger reactivated Aristotle’s theory of four causes from the perspective of phenomenology,and used the method of etymology to dig the deep meaning of the four causes.This paper summarizes Li Zhangyin’s further exploration of Heidegger’s reinterpretation of Aristotle’s theory of four causes,believing that "Motive force" comes from ancient Greek κιν(?)σεω(?) and and can be interpreted as "start","Form" comes from ancient Greek ε(?)δο(?) and can be interpreted as “gathering”,"material" comes from ancient Greek (?)λη and can be interpreted as “the present applicator”,"Purpose" comes from ancient Greek τ(?)λο(?) and can be interpreted as "final state".According to this interpretation,the hidden existentialism of Aristotle’s theory of four causes will appear,and it is precisely from the model of artificial objects in daily life.According to this phenomenological interpretation,Aristotle’s existentialism will be revealed,and it is precisely from the model of artificial objects in daily life.The purpose of this paper is to return to Aristotle’s text from the perspective of Heidegger’s phenomenology,to reveal the activity and beauty of the four factors,and to further explore Aristotle’s thought of artificial things from the perspective of existentialism of start,gathering,the present applicator and final state,so as to find a phenomenological way for the development of contemporary philosophy of artificial things Research path. |
