A Study Of Narrative Art In Heinrich B(?)ll’s Novels(1970-1980)

Heinrich B(?)ll(1917--1985)is one of the representative writers of realistic literature.He described the development of West German society in a realistic way.B(?)ll’s works are involved in a very rich variety of literature.The global circulation of his works is nearly 30 million,and has been translated into many languages,emitting its own unique light in the field of world literature.This paper mainly studies the characteristics of narrative art of B(?)ll’s works in the1970 s through close reading and text analysis.The introduction mainly introduces the source of the subject,the current research situation at home and abroad,the purpose and significance of the research,which lays the groundwork and prepares for the future research on Heinrich B(?)ll’s narrative art.The first chapter mainly starts from the narrative perspective,combines related theories of narratology to analyze and summarize the diversity of perspective forms and the ways of perspective transformation in B(?)ll’s texts.The second chapter mainly focuses on the time state of B(?)ll’s works and its implications.This chapter is divided into three parts: timing arrangement,time interval arrangement and time implication.The first part is to analyze the time sequence set in B(?)ll’s works.The second part is to analyze the time interval in B(?)ll’s works.The third part mainly explores the meaning of the narrative time in B(?)ll’s works.The third chapter studies the narrative features in B(?)ll’s works from the perspective of narrative space and analyzes the narrative functions behind these spatial forms.This chapter is divided into four parts.The first part is the real space that is the living space.The second part is the externalization of the character’s heart,that is,the psychological space.The third part is the power space of human nature oppression.The fourth part explains the narrative implication behind these Spaces.From the perspective of narratology,it is of historical and practical significance to study B(?)ll’s works in the 1970 s.The study of B(?)ll is helpful for us to understand the contemporary and social problems faced by the West German society after the war.The study of B(?)ll’s narrative art can inspire contemporary people to think about the relationship between the present society and human beings,both explicit and implicit,and then promote their reflection.
