The Principle Of Meaning Analysis And Verification

In Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus,Ludwig Wittgenstein made a thorough study and analysis of the meaning of language or proposition,and his philosophy of language was of far-reaching influence,his theory of meaning is the core of his early philosophy of language.As representatives of the logical positivism,the Vienna Circle advocates the principle of verification,"rejects Metaphysics",and scholars in the academic field often think that there are similarities or dissimilarities relationship between Ludwig Wittgenstein and Vienna Circle,so are they such a relationship? If not,what is the difference between Ludwig Wittgenstein’s philosophy and Vienna Circle’s theory of meaning?This paper first analyzes the theory of meaning in Ludwig Wittgenstein’s early Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus,and then clarifies the relationship between Vienna Circle and Ludwig Wittgenstein through the introduction of their historical relationship and brief thoughts In addition,the philosophical differences between the two theories are compared in four aspects:Firstly,how meaning is possible for Wittgenstein and the principle of strong verification for V ienna circle;Secondly,mathematical proof and weak principle of verification;Thirdly,the comparison between the syntactic theory and the world logic of Vienna Circle;Fourthly the Ludwig Wittgenstein approach to metaphysics as opposed to the Vienna Circle Rejection of metaphysics.So that we can clarify the philosophical connection between the two.In addition,is it possible that the differences in philosophical thought between the Ludwig Wittgenstein’s earlier Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus and the later philosophical studies are so great that they have something to do with the Vienna Circle? Therefore,the aim of my paper is to make a comparative study between the Vienna Circle and the Ludwig Wittgenstein’s theory of meaning.We can not deny the influence of the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus on the Vienna Circle,and we can not look at the problem metaphysically and tie the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus to the Vienna Circle.The philosophical thoughts of Ludwig Wittgenstein passed through the communication with Vienna Circle to the later philosophical thoughts —— The Language Game Theory,from the logical language to the daily language,from the real world to the value world,it is man,life and society who finally enjoy meaning and language.In the process,the Vienna Circle’s significance to the Ludwig Wittgenstein can not be ignored.
