A Study On Feng Menglong’s New Ping Yao Zhuan

The 40 chapters of Xin Pingyao Zhuan,based on the 20 chapters of Sansui Pingyao Zhuan by Feng Menglong,have made a great achievement in art,which is richer in content,more complete in plot and more rigorous in structure.Feng Menglong added commentary,which was infused with Feng Menglong’s own literary ideas.On the basis of the existing research results,this paper focuses on the analysis of the contents and methods of the innovation of Feng Menglong’s novel,and at the same time sums up the novel theory in his self-evaluation,trying to make a systematic and in-depth study of the new biography of Pingyao.This paper includes introduction,text and conclusion,the text of five chapters.In the "introduction" part,the significance of the topic selection is expounded,and the existing research results are reviewed from two aspects: Textual Research and textual research,this paper makes clear that the focus of this study is the adaptation method and novel theory of Feng Menglong’s new biography of Pingyao,and explains the research ideas and research methods of this paper.The first chapter analyzes the title and version of Feng Menglong’s the new story of the flat demon.The First Section of this chapter points out the confusion in the naming of twenty chapters and forty chapters,and argues that twenty chapters should have been named Sansui Pingyao Zhuan,while forty chapters of Feng Menglong should have been named Xin Ping Yao Zhuan.In the second section,according to the order of the times,the version of Xin Pingyao Zhuan is briefly sorted out,focusing on the Ming Dynasty Xuzhai edition and Jiahui Hall Edition.Tianxuzhai is the original of Feng Menglong’s biography of the new Pingyao,and Jiahui Hall is the original of Feng Menglong’s biography of the new Pingyao.In the third section,the author makes a brief description of the Qing Dynasty reprinted edition and thinks that the Qing Dynasty reprinted edition should be the reprinted edition of Jiahui Hall,most of which are of poor quality.The Second Chapter Discusses the background of the innovation of Feng Menglong’s the story of Xin Pingyao Zhuan.The first and second sections sort out the Pingyao Zhuan’s story,version,and synopsis.This chapter analyzes the reasons for Feng Menglong’s adaptation of Xin Pingyao Zhuan: He maintains that Feng Menglong,dissatisfied with the imperfection of the novel’s structure and Sansui Pingyao Zhuan of its characters,adapted the novel.The Third Chapter discusses the important achievements of Xin Pingyao Zhuan in the aspects of novel structure,writing method and character setting.In the overall structure,Feng Menglong based on Sansui Pingyao Zhuan,through the movement,rewriting and other ways to adapt the original plot,added 20 new,back to the form is more neat and standardized.In the creation method,follows "the expensive illusion" the principle,the bold gorgeous imagination has expanded the narrative space.In the aspect of character setting,the original character image is remolded,while the newly created character image shows the characteristics of attaching importance to its moral character.The Fourth Chapter Studies Feng Menglong’s comments in the new story of the flat demon.First of all,a brief analysis of the general situation and motivation of Feng Menglong’s criticism.Feng Menglong commented on more than a dozen works,both for economic gain and for the need to express ideas.Secondly,the paper discusses the content of the comments on the new biography of Pingyao,which mainly includes the opinion of running the country and keeping the people safe,the thought of cause and effect of the third generation and the expression of the novel idea.Finally,it analyzes the three aspects of the novel theory in the commentary of the new biography of Pingyao,namely,the relationship between fiction and reality,the structure arrangement and the interest of the novel.The fifth chapter summarizes the three aspects of the revised evaluation value of the new biography of Pingyao:(1)the ideological value of criticizing the social phenomenon of "the monster rising from the human";(2)it has realized the literary value of "being prepared for the situation of human and ghost,as well as the long of truth and illusion",and(3)it has a far-reaching influence on the novels,operas,films and TV works of later ages."Conclusion" briefly summarizes the main contents and main points of the article,the author thinks that Feng Menglong made the novel complete and imaginative through the readjustment of the structure,the significant change of the writing method and the rearrangement of the characters.While presenting the fantastic and magical story,the work reveals profoundly the phenomena of the court’s treacherous officials being in power,the nobles being in power and the people being exploited,and criticizes the social phenomenon of "the demon is not self-made",both literary value and ideological value.The story of the new Pingyao opens the series of novels of "Pingyao",and also provides the material for the drama.
