The cultivation of creative thinking and the improvement of self-expression ability are particularly important in English writing teaching in senior high schools in China.Writing is an important part of all English skills.A new round of college entrance examination reform and new curriculum standards have put forward new requirements for high school students’ English writing ability.The teaching of English writing in high school has been paid more and more attention by teachers and scholars.The importance of English writing teaching in senior high school is becoming more and more prominent.And writing is a kind of language output,is an important embodiment of students’ thinking quality.It can improve the level of students’ English writing,and also plays a significant role in improving the quality of students’ thinking.Therefore,this study,based on creative writing,aims to explore the feasibility and practical effects of creative writing workshop mode in high school English writing teaching.It is hoped that this teaching practice can stimulate students’ interest in writing,improve students’ thinking quality,improve students’ writing ability,criticism appreciation ability and humanistic cultivation.Finally,it can provide some reference for the current high school English writing teaching at the level of strategies and methods,and arouse more teachers’ discussion and research.This study takes the No.1 Middle School of Chongqing University Town as an example,and takes the two new types of English writing —writing through pictures and continuing writing as the writing task to carry on the teaching practice for two months to the students of Class Two,Grade One.It also tries to solve the following problems :(1)How is creative writing applied in English writing teaching in senior high school?(2)What are the effects of creative writing teaching after it is implemented in high school English class?(3)What problems can be found in creative writing teaching in high school English writing through this empirical study?This research mainly includes three parts: teaching design,teaching implementation process and teaching effect analysis.In the teaching design part,it mainly carries on the teaching activity design according to the brainstorming method,the process writing method and so on.In the process of teaching implementation,students are mainly taught through two kinds of writing tasks: continuation writing and picture writing.Finally,it analyzes the effect according to the questionnaire survey.The research found the following problems: students can not open their mind,afraid of violating the writing template;Students can not make the cohesion of the text to make the text coherent;Students can not detect the existence of their own composition problems.In view of these problems,the author puts forward the corresponding measures.For example,teachers can improve students’ creative consciousness,encourage innovation and weaken the importance of grammar.Teachers can also provide more training and guidance on cohesion and coherence of discourse.In general,the research shows that the method of teaching English writing in high school based on creative writing workshops is approved by most students.Through the teaching of English creative writing,students learn to develop their creative ability,open up their writing ideas,and write works with their own characteristics.This also proves that creative writing teaching in high school English is feasible and effective.
