With the rising tide of European revolution in the 19 th century,painting turned from the reappearance of tradition to the expression of highlighting independence and freedom.In the era of value transformation,printmaking art has been impacted by the innovation of printing technology and the evolution of artistic concept,presenting a new aesthetic judgment and choice.Printmaking began to separate the dual concept of creating printmaking and reproduction printmaking,and the social,cultural and political subjection function of reproduction printmaking turned to the pursuit of aesthetic independence of creation printmaking.At the same time,the trend of "retro" appeared in the art of etchings.French printmakers set off a trend of "etching landscapes" in etchings with the paradigm of Rembrandt’s painting art as a reversion.From then on,the trend of printmaking was initiated,and the method of reproduction was transformed into the method of creation.In addition,a new look appeared in aspects such as aesthetic thought,medium material application and creation subject.Engraving art to reflect the spiritual connotation of freedom,purification,independence of the road,become an independent art category.This paper attempts to summarize,sort out and study a large number of historical documents and printmaking works,and to describe and analyze the representative time points and printmaking works,so as to make a fine and clear sorting out the artistic characteristics and language changes of the etchings in an all-round way,so that their artistic characteristics and changes can be clearly displayed.To sum up,the main body of this paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter starts with the trend of social decency and progress in France in the 19 th century to investigate the historical background of the development of French etchings in the 19 th century.Under the influence of the Great Revolution,the French society formed an equal and relaxed literary and artistic environment,which provided congenital conditions for the change of the language of etchings.The second chapter is an overview of the evolution of French etchings in the 19 th century.As we all know,the 19 th century is known as the "lithographing century".Why is the creation of lithographing still popular with artists in this environment?Therefore,this part of the content will be from the creation of the subject and emerging trends and other aspects of the etchings into the artistic concept of the transformation of the exploration.Finally,this paper explores the modernity of the ontological language of 19 th century French etchings,discusses the ontological language of 19 th century French etchings,and investigates the humanistic spirit behind it.
