Abstract/Summary:
The Dai water-splashing festival in Xishuangbanna is a grand festival of the Dai people. It also embodies and inherits the cultural memory of the Dai people.Ethnic culture has always been a hot focus of attention, whether in terms of economic value or cultural connotation, which has great research value. This paper which based on the construction and reconstruction of the cultural memory of Dai Water Splashing Festival interprets and analyzes the past presentation and the present development of Dai water-splashing festival in Xishuangbanna. The first chapter mainly describes the ritual construction of the original Dai Water-Splashing Festival, and analyzes the process of the ceremony, the utensils that used in the ceremony, people’s behavior in the ceremony and the deep metaphor behind the ceremony.Through various kinds of water-splashing festival rituals(Buddha ceremony, water splashing ceremony and dripping ceremony),Dai people constantly construct and inherit the unique cultural memory of Dai people, and realize the reproduction and transmission of Dai cultural memory. The second chapter mainly describes the troubles of inheriting the Dai Water-Splashing Festival cultural memory. With the continuous development of cultural tourism, more and more tourists choose to experience different customs in ethnic areas.Because of its Participation, region and mass characteristics, the Dai Water-Splashing Festival has become the consumption object of ethnic cultural tourism, causing the phenomenon of "cultural distortion".When the ceremony becomes "performance",other ethnic groups can not understand the cultural connotation of water splashing Festival correctly. On the other hand,it dispels the cultural memory of the ceremony.Due to the impact of foreign culture and mainstream culture, some intangible cultural heritages of Dai people are challenged, which affects the inheritance of Dai culture to a certain extent. The third chapter mainly describes the reconstruction of the cultural memory of the creation of the Dai People’s water splashing Festival.First of all,it describes the reasons and specific contents of the reconstruction of Dai People’s cultural memory of the water splashing Festival: with the passage of time and the change of society, the ritual location and steps of the water splashing Festival have changed accordingly. The emergence of new media makes the water splashing Festival more popular. The official and folk forces also promote the change of the water splashing Festival.Various factors reconstruct the cultural memory of Dai people. In addition, this chapter also analyzes the external economic value, internal cultural value, and the impact of cultural memory reconstruction for Dai people. The reconstruction of the Dai People’s cultural memory of the water-splashing Festival reflects the development of Xishuangbanna and the efforts of the local government and the local people. The reconstruction of Dai water-splashing festival culture is not only a historical choice, but also the need of modern development. In the process of cultural reconstruction of Dai Water-Splashing Festival,we can find problems, then solve them and protect Dai culture. When we use Dai cultural resources reasonably,at the same time,we should keep the inheritance and development of Dai culture, and achieve a win-win situation of economic value and cultural value.
