Research On Jinghai Beiyun Zen Music

Buddhist music,as an important carrier for the promotion of the Dharma and offering to the Three Jewels,is an indispensable sound offering in Buddhist rituals.Since the Tang Dynasty entered the heyday of development,it gradually merged with Chinese traditional culture in the process of continuous development and evolution,and began to embark on the road of secularization and popularization.At the end of the Qing Dynasty,with the promulgation of the "Decree on Abandoning Temples and Promoting Learning",Tianjin Buddhist music flowed into the folks,and adhered to the tenacious existence of folk funeral customs,and gradually evolved into folk Buddhist music with the change of the ceremonial person’s identity and ritual functions.This article takes Beiyun Zen music in Jinghai District of Tianjin as the research object,and takes the Zhuanduo Village Jinmen Beiyun Zen Music Association as a case study.Through fieldwork,document review,interview and recording,etc.,it examines the folk Buddhist music and its music in Jinghai,Tianjin.Attached to the Buddhist ceremony for in-depth investigation.The full text consists of three chapters.The first chapter is an overview of the basic situation of Jinghai Beiyun Zen Music,discussing the natural and human environment of the Jinghai Beiyun Zen Music,as well as the historical development and personnel composition of the Jinmen Beiyun Zen Music Club.The second chapter mainly introduces the Buddhist rituals that are still being performed in the funeral ceremonies in the Jinmen Beiyun Zen Music Club.The first is the record and actual record of the ritual procedures of "Yoga Flame Mouth Feeding";the second is the introduction to the "Outer Altar" Buddhist ritual procedures and music.The third chapter is the analysis of the music ontology of Jinghai Beiyun Zen Music.There are two aspects involved: one is vocal music,which classifies and analyzes Buddhist chanting music in the genre of Buddhist scriptures;the second,it discusses instrumental music from the aspects of musical instruments,band organization,repertoire,etc.
