"Art can be defined as a sign language." German philosopher Ernst Cassirer believed that art is the symbolic sign language of our thoughts and emotions. It can be said that any artistic image is a sign or sign system with a specific meaning. From ancient grotto murals or earlier rock carvings to today’s colorful contemporary art, symbols have always been involved and occupy an extremely important position.People’s patterns on clothes, symbols written on paper, special symbol forms embodied in paintings, installations in contemporary art,and a pair of shoes displayed in museums are all expressions of symbols. The era and technology are developing rapidly, and the expression of different symbols of the era will also change.Symbolic art brings a rich and colorful artistic experience to our lives. The early masters of painting also learned from each other, and gradually formed their own symbolic language in the exploration and learning, and expressed their thoughts and concepts more accurately and systematically in their works. This is exactly why all artists are looking for their own painting language and symbols.the way.Taking relevant artists in contemporary art as examples, this article explores the symbolic meaning and individual expression of individual symbols in contemporary art creation by analyzing the trend of symbolization in contemporary art creation, which fits with an oil painting practitioner’s own interpretation of the symbolization of contemporary art.In practice,we need to find our own personal symbols, how to better understand and use personal symbols, how to give distinct subjective feelings in works and show the most dynamic personal symbols of this era. This requires us in the creative process.Tireless thinking, exploration and study research.
