Measuring Analysis And Application Of Grit Scale In Adolescent

This study aims to teenagers persistence grit assessment,and The structural validity of the 12-item Grit Scale and the measurement equivalence between different genders were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis,explore the Scale in our country,the applicability of the samples,and through the further analysis determined with,life satisfaction,sense of hope,correlation between Internet addiction and compulsive Internet use,to put forward effective Suggestions and methods for promoting the development of young people’s perseverance.In this study,1507 teenagers aged from 11 to 17(14.89 ± 1.84)were selected from changsha city,hunan province by cluster random sampling.Participants completed six measures of 12-Item Grit Scale(Grit-12),Brief Multimensional Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale(BMSLSS),the Children’s Hope Scale(CHS),Young Diagnostic Questionnaire(YDQ),Internet addiction test(IAT)and the compulsive Internet use scale(CIUS).Based on this,descriptive statistics,independent sample t test,equivalence test and person correlation analysis were used to analyze the data.The following conclusions were obtained:(1)The Grit Scale has good reliability and validity in the application of Chinese teenagers,which all meet the requirements of psychometrics;(2)The Grit Scale the measurement equivalent across gender among Chinese adolescents;as a result,it could be utilized in the gender-based studies;(3)There were significant differences in life satisfaction,sense of hope,Internet addiction and compulsive Internet use among the high and low-grit adolescents scores lower,among which the high-grit adolescents scores had significantly higher levels of Internet addiction and sense of hope than the low-grit adolescents scores;(4)There was a significant positive correlation between grit and life satisfaction,sense of hope,Internet addiction and compulsive Internet use.However,the effort dimension of Grit Scale was negatively correlated with the interest dimension,Internet addiction and compulsive Internet use,and the interest dimension was negatively correlated with the sense of hope and life satisfaction.
