In recent years,many Nigerian students have been learning Chinese,but the native English-speaking Nigerian students have encountered many problems in the process of Chinese acquisition.The reason for this difficulty lies in the great difference between English and Chinese.In addition,the cultural society and social differences between China and Nigeria also make it difficult for Nigerian Chinese learners to learn and use Chinese effectively.The purpose of this paper is to study the impact of Nigerian student’s native language which is English language on Chinese language acquisition in the process of learning Chinese.This paper is also set to analyze how the differences among the Nigerian Chinese learners’ native language,culture and social differences affect the Chinese language acquisition;and this paper will point out the mistakes Nigerian Chinese learners encounter in the process of Chinese acquisition.This paper will aim at analyzing the positive and negative effects of English language interference on Chinese language acquisition and classify the errors made by Nigerian Chinese learners when using Chinese.At the same time,some suggestions on how to learn Chinese for Nigerian students are put forward.
