Chinua Achebe,known as“the father of modern African Fiction”,is one of the most influential black writers in Africa.Taking the life of the IBO people before and after the independence of Nigeria and the social situation after the independence of the country as the theme,he discusses the intellectuals’ sense of responsibility and responsibility in social changes,which reflects his sense of responsibility for the development of the country and the nation and his thinking about the development of the country.Achebe is actively speaking for the development of African society,combining his life dream with the needs of national and national development.The characters in his novels,especially the intellectuals,attract people’s attention just as the characters concerned about the fate of African society.In order to summarize the general character of the intellectuals in Achebe’s novels in the process of breaking away from colonialism and developing national culture,this topic is based on the context of post-colonialism,combined with the relevant theories of intellectuals,this paper analyzes the intellectuals in Achebe’s novels Disintegration,The Arrow and The Anthill in the Waste Land,by summing up the characteristics of these intellectuals and their ideological quality,more readers can feel the appeal of Achebe,an intellectual from the ancient African continent,and listen to his voice for social justice.Ogonkavo,Izuru,Iken,Chris and the awakened new woman Beatrice are all typical characters in Achebe’s novels Disintegration,Arrow and Anthill in the Waste Land.Through the text analysis of them,this paper concludes that Achebe’s intellectual image is mainly manifested as the adherent of the national culture,the hero of the national culture,the hero of the national culture and the hero of the national culture It is the conclusion of the introspection of national culture and the explorer of national way out.Finally,with the image of these intellectuals as a reference,it is proposed that Achebe requires intellectuals to have the ideological awareness and spiritual quality of caring about the development of Africa,that is,social awareness,responsibility and mission,and the exploration of national way out based on the reflection of national culture.It is expected that this study can arouse more modern intellectuals to realize their social responsibility,unify their personal ideals with the national development,and take the initiative to take the social mission and social responsibility,so as to better promote social peace and development.
